Here at Starship, we advocate for lube use in every situation. No matter how old you are, how you identify or what kind of sex you enjoy, using lube makes good sex, great. If there was a university for great sex, it would be founded and sponsored by lube. With this being said, not all lubes work in every situation, or for all people so it's important to educate yourself if you want to create the best possible experiences for yourself and your partner(s).
There are three main types of personal lubricant, plus hybrids:
Water: Water based lubes are user-friendly, compatible with toys and safe to use with condoms. They are the perfect introduction to lube and will provide a non-sticky, non-tacky glide. However, due to their high absorption rate, water-based lubes are not suitable for water play.
Silicone: Silicone lubes do not contain water and do not evaporate or dry up during use, which makes them extra long-lasting. They are great for water play and sensitive skin. as well as condom safe. Because of the base, silicone lubricant is not fabric-friendly or compatible with silicone pleasure products!
Oil: Typically comprised of natural alternatives such as almond or coconut oils, oil based lubes are long-lasting, conditioning, and ideal for masturbation. They are not compatible with condoms and have been known to harbor bacteria which can cause infection.
